Netflix has premiered the full-length trailer for the high-stakes journalism drama “Scoop” starring “The X-Files” and “The Fall” alum Gillian Anderson.
The feature goes into the story of how The BBC’s “Newsnight” program obtained November 2019’s bombshell interview with Prince Andrew which went into his friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The project is said to be an inside account of the tenacious journalism that landed the earth-shattering interview which had such an impact that Andrew was banished from royal duties and was in absentia at the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee festivities.
It runs from the tension of producer Sam McAlister’s (Billie Piper) high-stakes negotiations with Buckingham Palace all the way to reporter Emily Maitlis’ (Gillian Anderson) showdown with the Prince (Rufus Sewell) on camera.
Keeley Hawes and Romola Garai co-star in the film which hails from veteran TV director Phillip Martin (“Catherine the Great,” “The Crown”). “Scoop” hits Netflix on April 5th.
