Actor Aaron Pierre has confirmed he is no longer attached to Marvel Studios’ upcoming “Blade” movie.
The “Krypton,” “Old” and “The Underground Railroad” star was attached two years ago in early 2022, one of only three stars linked at the time – the other two being Mahershala Ali in the title role and Delroy Lindo.
Pierre’s role remains unknown, though he was said to have been chosen for the role after an “expansive and thorough search” – suggesting a major character (possibly a villain).
Pierre revealed he had exited the project to Variety on the red carpet for the 55th NAACP Image Awards over the weekend, saying:
“Early on, there were conversations. As the project evolved, I’m no longer part of that – attached.”
He marks the latest name to exit the project, which has seen multiple directors and writers come and go, with Yann Demange currently slated to direct the project.
Pierre will soon be seen in Jeremy Saulnier’s “Rebel Ridge” and Barry Jenkins’ upcoming “The Lion King” prequel “Mufasa”.
