One of the obvious things to expect in this Summer’s “Deadpool & Wolverine” is a boatload of cameos, especially from actors who’ve appeared in prior non-MCU Marvel films.
The film’s director Shawn Levy, co-star Karan Soni and others have all hinted at them, to the point that the film is being seen as something of a goodbye to the old Fox Marvel franchises combined with all the usual Deadpool-style meta humor.
The only cameo that’s confirmed is Jennifer Garner reprising her role as Elektra from “Daredevil” in the film, whilst Vinnie Jones has confirmed he turned down reprising his Juggernaut role from “X-Men: The Last Stand”.
Now actor James Marsden, who played Cyclops in the “X-Men” films, has let slip something he maybe shouldn’t have whilst out promoting Michael Keaton’s “Knox Goes Away”.
The pair talked with The Playlist’s The Discourse podcast about their comic book movie adventures and Marsden at one point discussed the upcoming third “Sonic the Hedgehog” film when he said:
“We just wrapped [Sonic 3], actually. We were actually near the… ‘Deadpool’ [production] stages up there in Pinewood… Yeah, this is a little… umm…bit of a Pandora’s box.”
According to the outlet, Marsden was “seemingly regretting what he said in real-time” with that answer before trying to pivot back to Sonic 3, saying:
“Look, franchises, I even hate that word franchises…. So I feel very proud of what we’ve created and the response from the fans and everything.”
He adds that he keeps getting accosted on the street about whether he’ll appear in the film:
“Yeah, I keep hearing about it; I can’t walk down the street without someone asking me, so evidently, there’s a lot of chatter about that.”
Will he appear? We’ll find out when “Deadpool & Wolverine” premieres in July.
