Amazon Prime Video has announced that the second season of the Josh Brolin-led sci-fi neo-Western series “Outer Range” will arrive on the streamer on May 16th.
The series follows Brolin’s Royal Abbott, a rancher who’s willing to fight anything and anyone – even the unknown – in order to protect his land and family.
In the first season, he discovers a mysterious, dark void on the west pasture of his family ranch.
The second season sees Royal and his wife Cecelia struggle to keep their family together in the aftermath of their granddaughter’s sudden disappearance.
The stakes have never been higher for the Abbotts, who now face threats on multiple fronts. The synopsis indicates the new run boasts plenty of “payoffs, grounded twists, and liberated character journeys”.
Brolin will make his directorial debut with the upcoming season’s penultimate episode.
The series hails from showrunner and executive producer Charles Murray and also stars Imogen Poots, Lili Taylor, Lewis Pullman, Tom Pelphrey, Olive Abercrombie, Tamara Podemski, Noah Reid, Shaun Sipos, Isabel Arraiza and Will Patton.
