A new report in British tabloid The Daily Mail claims actress Dakota Johnson is in a bit of hot water with Sony Pictures for taking public digs at the Marvel movie.

The $80 million-budgeted movie has been a critical and financial fizzer, taking in just $15.1 million domestically on its opening weekend and grossing just $93.2 million worldwide to date.

Social media has lambasted the film, and its issues have also been publicly discussed by those involved. Johnson worked hard on the publicity circuit for the film, but some of her interview comments have raised eyebrows.

One insider tells the paper: “Lots of people at Sony are questioning her star power, and how she reacted to this failure will likely come back to haunt her.”

They add that bosses had been fine with Dakota’s costar Sydney Sweeney making a playful joke on “Saturday Night Live” about the film’s box-office.

However they are reportedly drawing a line at: “Dakota’s continued dragging of how she sees the fallout of Madame Web and how she isn’t taking any responsibility for its lackluster results” and dubbing her comments a “bad look”.

A lot of the report’s claims seem to stem from an interview in which she predicted the public backlash and complained about “decisions are being made by committees” in terms of filmmaking these days. She’s also talked about having not seen the film (or any of her films) as a form of “self-care.”
