Showdog Studio is reportedly developing three films about the life of pioneering electrical engineer and inventor Nikola Tesla – known for his work on alternating current electricity.
Tim Eaton, a veteran of visual effects on films like “Twister” and “Men in Black,” will co-write the scripts.
In addition, the company has optioned the rights to two biographical novels from author Marc J. Seifer about Tesla – specifically the 1996 book “Wizard: The Life and Times of Nikola Tesla” and the 2021 title “Tesla: Wizard at War”.
Showdog Studio has also received access to various other letters and artifacts from Tesla’s life. Showdog founder John Attard said in a statement:
“We are proud to be working with Marc and Tim and believe they will be a strong vehicle through which we can explore how, in a world increasingly influenced by technology and its misuse, Tesla’s very human story about the burden of genius is a timely and cautionary tale we can learn from.”
Attard and Robert Harris will serve as executive producers on the trilogy. Various actors have played Tesla over the years, notably David Bowie in “The Prestige,” Nicholas Hoult in “The Current War,” and Goran Visnjic guesting on “Doctor Who”.
