Actress Katy O’Brian joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe with “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” taking on the role of Quantum Realm native and freedom fighter Jentorra in the 2023 film.

She was one of the better-received elements of the film, which scored mixed-poor reviews, plenty of criticism over its effects, and a box-office haul of $476.1 million worldwide.

By all accounts, it was a bit of a messy production – a norovirus outbreak, pandemic-related delays, release date shifts, a drastically reduced post-production period leading to compromises on the effects, additional filming just two months before release, and then the arrest of Jonathan Majors who plays the villain.

Out promoting “Love Lies Bleeding” with EW this week, O’Brian spoke about how challenging filming the project was:

“That was absolutely chaotic. I think we were getting new pages until the last day, and I think I was getting new fights the last day. I just show up, and they’re like, ‘Here’s a new fight.’”

This is consistent with other reports about frequent changes behind the scenes on the film, especially in post-production, which frustrated the effects houses.

‘Quantumania’ began what ended up being a bad year for Marvel, which saw multiple flops and only the odd critical success (“Loki” S2) or commercial hit (“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”). Disney is now retooling several titles in the MCU and slowing down its rollout of product from the mega franchise.
