Akira Toriyama, the creator of the highly influential “Dragon Ball” franchise, has died. He was 68.

Toriyama suffered an acute subdural hematoma, a bleeding near the brain, and passed away last Friday with the news only being announced today.

Only his family and a few friends attended his funeral according to a statement from the Dragon Ball website. In addition, he had uncompleted works at the time of his death.
