DreamWorks Animation has premiered the first trailer for its upcoming adaptation of Peter Brown’s beloved and award-winning best seller “The Wild Robot” due out in cinemas September 20th.
The epic adventure follows the journey of a robot – ROZZUM unit 7134 or ‘Roz’ for short – that is shipwrecked on an uninhabited island.
They must learn to adapt to the harsh surroundings, gradually building relationships with the animals on the island and becoming the adoptive parent of an orphaned gosling.
The voice cast incluces Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o (“Us,” “Black Panther”) as the robot Roz, Emmy nominee Pedro Pascal (“The Last of Us”) as fox Fink, Emmy winner Catherine O’Hara (“Schitt’s Creek”) as opossum Pinktail, Oscar nominee Bill Nighy (“Living”) as goose Longneck, and Kit Connor (“Heartstopper”) as gosling Brightbill
There’s also Oscar nominee Stephanie Hsu (“Everything Everywhere All at Once”) as another robot named Vontra, along with unspecified roles for Mark Hamill, Matt Berry and Ving Rhames.
The film is written and directed by three-time Oscar nominee Chris Sanders (“How to Train Your Dragon,” “Lilo & Stitch”). “The Wild Robot” hits cinemas in September.
