A horror movie is on the way inspired by the infamous an unofficial Wonka-inspired “Willy’s Chocolate Experience” live event in Scotland which went viral last week. The plan is to film later this year.
Bloody Disgusting reports that Kaledonia Pictures has announced “The Unknown,” a new horror film featuring one of the new characters created for the event – a silver-masked evil chocolate maker who lives in the walls.
The film will follow a renowned illustrator and his wife who are haunted by the tragic death of their son, Charlie. Desperate to escape their grief, the couple leave the world behind for the remote Scottish Highlands – where an unknowable evil awaits them.
In a statement to the outlet, they say: “We are excited to begin production and look forward to sharing more with you as soon as possible. We are actually only a few miles from the event, so it is quite surreal to see Glasgow all over social media, worldwide.”
House of Illuminati organised the unlicensed ‘Willy’s Chocolate Experience’ in Glasgow with AI-generated images promoting an immersive and interactive family experience that cost £35 a ticket.
Customers turned up at the event, only to see it was a sparsely decorated warehouse in an industrial area with a couple of young actors hired to read off AI-generated gibberish. Kids were given a single jelly bean and a quarter cup of lemonade – and the beans quickly ran out.
The event was cancelled halfway through its opening day with cops showing up as “the threat of violence had become quite high”. The event went viral on the Internet and attracted international media attention.
A photo of the actress in the “Jellybean Room” – a table covered in lab equipment that has been compared to a meth lab – has become emblematic of the event.
As has video of The Unknown which is actually a teenage actress who, in costume, hid behind a mirror and popped out – scaring some kids in the process. The character is ultimately defeated by a vacuum cleaner.
“The Unknown” is currently looking to release in late 2024.
