Beth Grant (“Donnie Darko”), Damon Herriman (“Justified”), Maxwell Jenkins (“Lost In Space”) and Jolene Purdy (“The White Lotus”) have landed series regular roles alongside Kevin Bacon and Jennifer Nettles in “The Bondsman” for Amazon Prime Video.
Consisting of eight half-hour episodes, Bacon plays Hub Halloran – a backwoods bounty hunter who comes back from the dead with an unexpected second chance at life and a nearly-forgotten musical career.
He soon figures out his old job now has a demonic new twist. Nettles plays Hub’s ex-wife, Grant his mother, Jenkins his son, Herriman a country music club owner in a relationship with Hub’s ex-wife, and Purdy as a ‘secret emissary’ stuck in a male-dominated system.
Grainger David created the series and serves as an executive producer. Erik Oleson is the executive producer and showrunner. Bacon, Jason Blum, Paul Shapiro, Chris McCumber, Jeremy Gold and Chris Dickie executive produce.
It’s not the only series to cast up today. “Sons of Anarchy” creator Kurt Sutter’s upcoming Netflix western drama series “The Abandons” has added six new names to join the already announced Lena Headey and Gillian Anderson.
They include Lucas Till (“MacGyver”), Nick Robinson (“Jurassic World”), Diana Silvers (“Booksmart”), Lamar Johnson (“The Last of Us”), Aisling Franciosi (“The Nightingale”) and Natalia del Riego (“Hail Mary”).
The series is set in 1850s Oregon as a group of diverse, outlier families pursue their destiny. When corrupt society tries to force them out, these fringe dwellers unite to form a family and fight back – with bloody consequences.
The series has scored a ten-episode order with Sutter serving as showrunner and executive producer. Emmy Grinwis, Jon Paré, Stephen Surjik and Otto Bathurst will executive produce with Bathurst directing the pilot.
