AMC premiered “The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live” on Sunday night, and millions returned to the franchise to see what became of Andrew Lincoln’s Rick and Danai Gurira’s Michonne.
The series premiere delivered three million viewers, inclusive of replays and simulcasts, over three days for AMC.
That makes it the best series debut performance on the cable network since “The Terror” back in March 2018, a show which had the then strong “The Walking Dead” as a lead-in.
The company also says the premiere was the most watched episode of any show on its AMC+ service with the debut drawing more AMC+ viewing in two days than any other season premiere had in a full week.
In addition, Sunday was the biggest day for direct-to-consumer signups since AMC+ launched.
In terms of same day viewers on the network, the premiere pulled in 896,000 – higher than either “Dead City” (704,000 viewers) or “Daryl Dixon” (631,000). A further 207,000 watched on other networks, and more than 60% of the premiere audience watched after that initial airing.
