Appearing at the official “Dune: Part Two” premiere on Sunday night, actress Florence Pugh has confirmed that filming has already begun on Marvel Studios’ “Thunderbolts” film.
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, she says: “I’ve just started my next movie, my next Marvel movie, Thunderbolts. I’ve been shooting that.” Pugh reprises her role of Yelena Belova which she played in “Black Widow” and three episodes of “Hawkeye”.
The project, which sees a group of anti-heroes teaming up, was originally scheduled to begin in mid-June 2023 and last for six months.
However, the strikes led to filming being pushed back to its newer date. Filming is taking place in Atlanta, Utah and New York and is expected to run into July.
The team includes Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/US Agent, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster, Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr/Ghost and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.
Also onboard are Harrison Ford as U.S. President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, Lewis Pullman as Sentry, and Geraldine Viswanathan as de Fontaine’s assistant. Laurence Fishburne and Rachel Weisz are expected to reprise their prior MCU roles of Bill Foster and Melina Vostokoff.
The film is being directed by Jake Schreier, with a script from Joanna Calo, Lee Sung Jin, and Eric Pearson. “Thunderbolts” is set for a May 2nd 2025 release.
