“Money Heist” spin-off “Berlin” has been renewed by Netflix for a second season. In its premiere week last year, the series was the most-watched series globally on the service and reached the top ten in 91 countries.
Since then, it remained in the top ten for seven consecutive weeks in non-English TV, amassing 53 million total views. It currently ranks at ninth among the most-watched non-English language series in the history of Netflix.
The filming of the second season will begin next year with Pedro Alonso back as his famed character along with “a new heist and more love.”
The series co-stars Michelle Jenner as Keila, an electronic engineering genius; Tristan Ulloa as Damian, a philanthropic professor and Berlin’s confidant; Begona Vargas as Cameron, who always lives on the edge; Julio Pena Fernsndez as Roi, Berlin’s faithful squire; and Joel Sanchez as Bruce, the gang’s man of action.
The series was created by Alex Pina and Esther Martínez Lobato and Pina’s production company Vancouver Media.
