By Dennis Quaid has reportedly signed on for a leading role opposite Annaleigh Ashford in the Paramount+ series “Happy Face”.
The series is inspired by the podcast of the same name and Melissa Moore’s book “Shattered Silence” about her true-life story.
Moore discovered at age fifteen that her father was the serial killer known as ‘Happy Face’. As an adult, she changed her name and guarded her secret while her father was serving life in prison.
In the series, the pair have had decades of no contact until he (Quaid) finally finds a way to force himself back into the life of his daughter (Ashford). She races against time to find out if an innocent man is going to be put to death for a crime her father committed.
At the same time, she discovers the impact her father had on his victims’ families and must face a reckoning of her own identity.
Jennifer Cacicio is the writer, executive producer, and showrunner whilst “The Good Wife” and “Evil” duo Robert and Michelle King executive produce. Michael Showalter will direct the first episode and executive produce.
Production on the eight-episode first season begins this spring in Vancouver ahead of a premiere on Paramount+ in 2025.
