Filmmaker Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions has updated its official site to confirm the director’s untitled next film is set for a 2025 release.
A year ago, Universal Pictures set a December 25th 2024 release date for the project – Peele’s fourth film following “Get Out,” “Us” and “Nope”. Filming was to begin last Summer, but the strikes put a stop to that and it hasn’t yet started production.
As a result, the film was removed from Universal’s release calendar and has been undated ever since. This would seem to confirm it’s still planning on going into production soon.
Meanwhile, The Insneider reports that rumors of actor Mahershala Ali exiting the “Blade” film at Marvel Studios are “totally false” and the script for the film is finally being “round into shape” to a point Ali is “comfortable moving forward”.
However he adds that the film, currently slated for November 7th 2025, will most likely be delayed to 2026. The film has undergone re-writes from Stacy Osei-Kuffour, Michael Starrbury, Beau DeMayo and Nic Pizzolatto whilst “Logan” scribe Michael Green being the most recent one to have a go.
It’s expected the new “Blade” will be rated R and will be made for under $100 million, with Yann Demange still attached to direct.
