The musical biopic “Bob Marley: One Love” is expected to easily beat “Madame Web” for the upcoming six-day stretch running from Valentine’s Day tomorrow through the Presidents Day holiday on Monday.
“One Love” is expected to hover around $30-35 million over the period whereas “Madame Web” is on track for a $20-25 million start. ‘One Love’ cost $70 million to produce and so far has received dismal reviews at just 37% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Even so, it’s reportedly outselling “Madame Web” by 2-to-1 in advance ticket sales. No reviews are out yet for “Madame Web” which has its premiere tonight with reviews then expected to follow shortly.
Neither film will have Tuesday night previews. Both are also a long way from Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” which debuted to $120.3 million over the four-day Friday-Monday this time last year – and that was considered a soft debut.
The box-office is expected to remain dead throughout the rest of the month with nothing really to spark a serious bout of moviegoing until “Dune: Part Two” arrives on March 1st.
