It’s not unexpected, but at least it’s confirmed – “Star Wars: The Acolyte” will have its debut on the Disney+ service this Summer, according to Collider.

Set around fifty years before “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace” towards the end of the High Republic era, the live-action series follows a former Jedi Padawan and her one-time Master.

The pair investigate sinister crimes in an ever-changing galaxy, challenging the fallibility of the Jedi Order.

Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Joonas Suotamo, Jodie Turner-Smith, Manny Jacinto, Carrie-Anne Moss, Dean-Charles Chapman, Margarita Levieva and Charlie Barnett star.

Also onboard is Rebecca Henderson as an older version of Vernestra Rwoh, one of the major characters of the books set during the High Republic era.

The series hails from creator Leslye Headland and will premiere its eight episodes exclusively on the Disney+ service. It comes ahead of “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew” expected in the back half of 2024 followed by the second season of “Andor” in early 2025. A new season of “Ahsoka” is also in the works, along with “The Mandalorian and Grogu” movie for a 2026 release.
