It has been a busy day for renewal orders, especially over at ABC where a whole bunch have been handed out and revealed at the networks Television Critics Association panel.
For starters, the multiple award-winning comedy “Abbott Elementary” has scored a fourth season, ahead of the show’s third season premiere which was delayed due to the strikes.
Along with major critical acclaim, the second season was a hig for ABC and had the strongest season average for an ABC comedy since the 2019-2020 season.
After the success of “The Golden Bachelor,” ABC has ordered “The Golden Bachelorette” which will debut this Fall – though who the first leading lady is will be is unclear. Another season of “The Bachelorette” is also on the way.
Other renewals at ABC include “Celebrity Family Feud,” “Jeopardy! Masters”. ABC is also reportedly eyeing a linear broadcast of the second season of Hulu’s “Only Murders In The Building” following a successful run of the first.
Over on the Disney+ service, renewals have been handed out for a second season of “Goosebumps” and third seasons of animated series “SuperKitties” and “Pupstruction”.
Disney+ also announced a March 29th premiere date for all eight episodes of its new series “Renegade Nell” starring Louisa Harland. It follows a woman who finds herself framed for murder and unexpectedly becomes the most notorious outlaw in 18th-century England.
Finally the Disney Channel is expanding its “Zombies” franchise with a fourth film scoring a green light and an animated series titled “Zombies: The Re-Animated Series” in the works for this Summer.
Filming on “Zombies 4” begins in New Zealand in March with Meg Donnelly and Milo Manheim reprising their roles as they embark on a road trip the summer after their first year of college.
