Hulu has premiered the teaser for its four-part docuseries “Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story” – the first-ever docuseries on the band’s history.
With full co-operation from all past and present members of Bon Jovi, including longtime guitarist and co-songwriter Richie Sambora, it promises viewers a glimpse at the true story of what happened.
The series will combine forty years of personal videos, unreleased early demos, original lyrics and never-before-seen photos about the band’s journey from New Jersey clubs in the early 1980s to the biggest arenas around the world.
Along the way there were hits, setbacks, fights and triumphs. The band famously blended styles of rock, pop, power ballads and heavy metal, leading to their third album “Slippery When Wet” selling over 20 million copies.
In all they’ve sold over 130 million albums worldwide and produced countless major hits over the years. Gotham Chopra directs and executive produces.
Appearing at the TCA to promote the show, Jon Bon Jovi said this week: “One thing we agreed upon on day one was this was not going to be a VH1 puff piece, that if anything, I wasn’t going to stamp my feet and say I have final say, Gotham was the director, this had to tell the truth, and have all the warts to go with it in order to tell a real truth. I’m proud of the film.”
That seems to include Bon Jovi’s current health struggles which included him undergoing vocal surgery. “Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story” premieres on Friday, April 26th.
