HBO is developing another “Game of Thrones” spin-off series dubbed “Aegon’s Conquest” according to THR.

Mattson Tomlin, who did uncredited work on Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” and co-wrote its upcoming sequel, has come onboard the project which serves as a direct prequel to “House of the Dragon”.

The new series follows Aegon Targaryen’s bloody, brutal conquest of Westeros with his sister wives, Rhaenys and Visenya. In just two years he successfully unified six of the Seven Kingdoms, only Dorne able to successfully resist.

Sources for the trade call it a “back to basics” approach to the epic fantasy universe created by author George R.R. Martin. The idea was reportedly thrown about in discussion early last year with reports back in April. With Tomlin now attached, it’s picking up some heat.

Multiple spin-off ideas have been in development, but only two have actually made it to series so far – “House of the Dragon” which airs its second season this summer, and “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight” which begins filming this year and is based on the Dunk and Egg novellas.

Tomlin also co-wrote the upcoming Keanu Reeves action film “BRZRKR” and the film adaptation of the video game “Mega Man” in development.
