A new rumor has emerged from the XboxEra Podcast (via ComicBook.com) suggesting that Sony is looking into a ‘ground-up’ remake of Naughty Dog’s original 2007 PS3 title “Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune”.

Their sources say “evidence” had been provided by an anonymous source. Two of the hosts reportedly claim to have been provided with information independently that corroborated the story.

The studio possibly working on the “Uncharted” remake project is unknown, and they stress that this is a long way from any kind of confirmation the remake will see the light of day.

The first “Uncharted” game, widely considered the weakest by far of the four main titles, was one of the biggest sellers of the PS3 era and is playable today on PS4 & PS5 via the “Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection” remaster collection.

More recently, Naughty Dog released the “Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves” collection that remastered the fourth game and ‘Lost Legacy’ natively for PS5 and PC as well.

The hope was the ‘Nathan Drake Collection’ would get some kind of overhaul to bring those first three games, which ran from 2007-2011 and are definitely showing signs of their age, both up to par with more modern-day graphics on PS5 as well as bringing them to PC for the first time.

There’s been no sign of such a remaster, but the new report suggests they are taking things further with a full remake. The series has been effectively on hold since ‘Lost Legacy’ was released back in 2017 but saw new attention last year thanks to the Tom Holland-led film pulling in $407 million worldwide. A sequel to that is in development.
