Five more games in the “Resident Evil” franchise are rumoured to be in development, according to a recent scoop from a reputable leaker.
The “Resident Evil” franchise is one of Capcom’s most successful franchises. In recent years, it has seen a huge resurgence thanks to both well-regarded new entries with the seventh and eighth (‘Village’) titles, along with the very well-received remakes of the second through fourth games.
AestheticGamer, aka Dusk Golem, considered one of the best RE scoopers, has revealed on Reddit (via Game Rant) that they are aware of five projects currently in development for the franchise with one being an unannounced “Resident Evil 9” which is likely aiming for a 2025 release.
It’s also widely assumed that at least one of the others is a remake – though the title is not clear as “Resident Evil: Code Veronica,” “Resident Evil 5,” “Resident Evil 0”, and even the original “Resident Evil” are all potential candidates.
What those other two or three could be is also unclear – could one be a live service game? Could one be a free-to-play mini-game like the just released and critically panned ‘The Short Message’ entry from rival franchise “Silent Hill”?
Capcom has been steadily pumping out a new RE game in the franchise every year for the past five years with 2024 seemingly marking the first year not to include one. One thing that is coming soon is a ‘Gold Edition’ of the RE4 remake releasing on February 20th.
