The one and only “Mad Max” director and Australian filmmaking icon George Miller has been revealed as a star of Hideo Kojima’s upcoming “Death Stranding” game sequel.
Titled “Death Stranding 2: On the Beach,” the game is being released in 2025 initially as a PS5 exclusive. The first footage from the game was revealed at today’s State of Play event.
The lengthy clip shows returnees like Norman Reedus, Lea Seydoux, and Troy Baker along with new to the franchise Elle Fanning as well as plenty of gameplay and cinematics from the title.
Sam, with companions by his side, sets out on a new journey to save humanity from extinction. Players join them as they traverse a world beset by otherworldly enemies, obstacles and a haunting question: should we have connected?
The trailer plays out with several hints that this is the final one, no third part. It also contains the usual Kojima craziness from a talking stop-motion ventriloquist puppet operating on a low frame-rate, to a battle with robots using a guitar shred.
Check out the full nearly ten-minute long clip below via PlayStation’s YouTube channel. The presentation also revealed Kojima will develop a new action espionage game with Sony.
