Singer, music producer and one of the greatest living icons Dolly Parton has offered an update on the potential revival of the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” franchise.
In an interview with Business Insider, the “Jolene” singer says: “They’re still working on that. They’re thinking about bringing it back and revamping it.” Parton didn’t elaborate any further and it’s presently not clear who else is involved in the series.
Both the “Buffy” series which ran from 1997-2003, and “Angel” which ran from 1999-2004, were produced by several production companies including Kuzui Enterprises which also worked on the original film, Joss Whedon’s Mutant Enemy Productions, 20th Century Studios and Sandollar Productions.
Parton founded Sandollar Productions with her former manager Sandy Gallin and produced such films as “Father of the Bride,” “Kicking and Screaming,” “Fly Away Home,” “Straight Talk,” “Sabrina” and “Shining Through”.
Series star Sarah Michelle Gellar has previously said that while Parton was a producer on the series, she never actually got to meet her in person.
What a revival might look like isn’t clear but the franchise has remained popular thanks to the ongoing success of comic books and audio adventures as well as streaming access to the series via Hulu.
