Chris Rock has reportedly done a deal which will see him develop to direct a remake of Thomas Vinterberg’s Oscar-winning 2020 black comedy “Another Round”.
If it goes forward it will mark the second time Rock has helmed a U.S. remake of a European film following “I Think I Love My Wife” which was a remake of French 1972 feature “Love in the Afternoon”. Rock also helmed “Head of State” and “Top Five”.
Stuart Bloomberg wrote a draft for the new “Another Round” and they will now bring in a new writer to work with Rock. Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Davisson, Brad Weston and Collin Creighton will produce for Appian Way and Makeready.
Mads Mikkelsen starred in the original film about four high school teachers who conduct an experiment to maintain a constant level of inebriation throughout their workday.
Restless and bored, they act on a theory that a certain alcohol level boosts creativity and happiness. Of course, their experiment has unexpected consequences.
Rock has reportedly made directing a priority with this to join the adaptation of Jonathan Eig’s book “King: A Life” and another untitled project he has in the works.
