Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions have teamed to acquire the pulpy wild action movie “Boy Kills World” starring Bill Skarsgard, Famke Janssen, Jessica Rothe, Andrew Koji and Michelle Dockery.
A wide theatrical release has been set for this Spring with the project, hailing from German filmmaker Moritz Mohr and produced by Sam Raimi and Roy Lee, getting a major push following the film playing at Toronto last year to solid reviews.
Yayan Ruhian, Isaiah Mustafa, Sharlto Copley and Brett Gelman co-star in the film in which Skarsgard plays Boy, a deaf-mute with a vivid imagination who is driven by his inner voice – a voice he co-opted from his favorite childhood video game.
Boy vows revenge for the murder of his family by Hilda Van Der Koy (Janssen), the deranged matriarch of a corrupt post-apocalyptic dynasty.
Having escaped to the jungle to evade them, Boy trains with a mysterious shaman to become a lethal instrument.
On the eve of the annual culling of dissidents, his bloody carnage begins. Increasingly wild action sequences, resistance fighters, and a snark ghost sibling are all in the mix as well.
“Boy Kills World” will open in cinemas everywhere on April 26th.
