Nicole Kidman will star whilst Justin Kurzel (“Macbeth,” “Nitram,” “Assassin’s Creed”) will direct a feature film adaptation of Gordon Reece’s 2011 debut novel “Mice”.

Production companies Blossom Films and Made Up Stories, which were behind Hulu’s “Nine Perfect Strangers” and HBO’s “The Undoing” are producing the film with Shaun Grant to write the script.

The story follows a girl named Shelley and her mother who have retreated to the quiet of a cottage in the countryside after a trio of bullies nearly killed Shelley, and her parents endured a humiliating divorce.

Their life of gardening and books, hot chocolate and music are upset when unwelcome guest disturbs their peace and something inside Shelley snaps.

What happens next will shatter all their certainties – not just about their safety in this world, but what they are willing to accept and what they are capable of.

Kidman, Kurzel, Grant, Bruna Papandrea, Per Saari, Steve Hutensky and Jodi Matterson will produce.
