Whilst “The Mandalorian & Grogu” film has taken away all the attention lately, Daisy Ridley is still readying to reprise her role of Rey Skywalker in the new Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy-directed “Star Wars” film at Lucasfilm and Disney.
In a new interview with AlloCine, Ridley teases that the film will go in a “different direction” and she can’t wait to get started:
“So I thought about it for a little bit, and once I knew what the story was and everything, I knew it was something I really wanted to do. I think it’s a really fantastic exploration of the Star Wars world. It’s a really cool way of taking the story on in a bit of a different direction.”
It will mark a return to the role for Ridley who filmed “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” back in late 2018. The new film takes place years later as Rey builds a new Jedi Order.
The comments come as a posting by The Hollywood Handle over the weekend, quoting scooper DanielRPK, has gone viral and suggests Disney is considering a Marvel Studios “What If?” style anthology series but for the “Star Wars” universe.
The report has undergone some roasting from responders over the past 2-3 days, and there’s been no confirmation or follow-up in the time since that suggests such a project is in the works.
