Many have complained that the Marvel formula has become stale and they need to try something different.
However that criticism can be a double edged sword, as seen with the “She-Hulk: Attorney At Law” series. The show was genuniely different with fourth-wall-breaking elements, skewering Marvel itself and the nastier sections of the fanbase.
It also gave the beloved Tatiana Maslany a starring vehicle. Whilst the critics really liked it, the audience seemed deeply divided on it. There was also rumblings of behind-the-scenes problems and budgetary issues with the film’s visual effects.
Thus, according to Maslany this week during an appearance on the Codenames LIVE! – The New Class Twitch stream (via The Direct), the chances of a second season are unlikely. Asked about the possibility of a second season, she says: “I don’t think so. I think we blew our budget, and Disney was like, ‘No thanks’.”
The comments seem to shut the door on a potential “She-Hulk” series, but don’t necessarily close off Maslany from returning as the character for a future appearance somewhere.
The talk comes as Marvel Studios is overhauling how it plans to produce TV moving forward and recently released “Echo” on the Disney+ service as a binge watch.
