The trailer has been released for “Grounded 2: Making The Last of Us Part 2,” a documentary that was previously abandoned but is now coming out later this year.

A sequel to the 2014 documentary “Grounded: The Making of The Last of Us,” work on the documentary began in 2016 and chronicles the behind-the-scenes development and making of “The Last of Us Part II” game at Naughty Dog.

The doco will tackle it all from the work conditions and emotional stress, to the massive pre-release leaks that almost torpedoed the game and still impact the gaming industry to this day, not to mention trying to finish the game for release during the early months of the pandemic (the title was released in July 2020).

The doco was originally scrapped due to the COVID-19 pandemic but now, a few years later, the footage has been assembled and the work is ready for release.

The game itself debuted to critical raves and multiple prestigious gaming awards, even as reaction was more divisive to the game than its universally beloved predecessor.

An official release date for the doco remains to be announced, but it will be available on YouTube as a post-launch update for “The Last of Us: Part II Remastered” which hits storefronts from this Friday.

The trailer comes ahead of filming on the second season of HBO’s “The Last of Us,” which will adapt at least part of the game, commencing next month in Vancouver.
