The first three episodes of the second season of “Reacher” premiered on Amazon last month and now, four weeks later, its numbers from that launch week have popped up on the Nielsen ratings charts.
The Alan Ritchson-led series premiered on December 15th, with the Nielsen streaming charts running from December 11th to 17th. In that week, “Reacher” racked up 1.7 billion minutes viewed in the United States alone according to the analytics giant.
To put that in perspective, the first season released all eight episodes at once in early 2022 and in its first three days they snagged 1.84 billion minutes viewed in the United States.
Previously Amazon indicated “Reacher” is now the No. 1 title of the year for Prime Video in terms of total viewers across all series and films globally, and the biggest premiere weekend that the streamer has had since “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power”.
It came in behind Sam Esmail’s Netflix film “Leave The World Behind” which spent another week in the top spot with just under 2 billion minutes viewed. It its first ten days, the film has lodged 3.3 billion viewing minutes.
Production on the third season is currently underway.
