“Family Guy” creator Seth MacFarlane, out promoting Peacock’s new “Ted” prequel series, has offered an update on two other projects he’s tied to – sci-fi fave “The Orville” and the Liam Neeson-led reboot of “The Naked Gun”.
Recently it has seemed that “The Orville” is dead. There’s been no official word on the series since “The Orville: New Horizons” premiered on Hulu nearly two years ago.
In November, actress Adrienne Palicki has spoken about the issues actors on the show have faced with the show only producing a total of 33 episodes in six years.
Speaking with The Wrap, MacFarlane offered a cryptic update saying:
“All I can tell you is that there is no official death certificate for ‘The Orville’ It is still with us. I can’t go any further than that at the moment. There are too many factors.”
Series co-star Scott Grimes adds that conversations about another season began before the strikes:
“I do know that we are still talking about it. It’s not dead in any sort of way whatsoever. It’s just about when, where and how and building the stuff again. I’m excited because it’s one of the greatest things to work on. So I just have my fingers crossed. And I know Seth wants to do it and that usually holds a lot of power. And I hope he gets to because it’s one of his babies that he just loves and it’s a blast to work on.”
J. Lee, Penny Johnson Jerald, Peter Macon, Mark Jackson, Chad L. Coleman, Jessica Szohr and Anne Winters co-starred in the series.
