Universal Pictures has purchased the short story package “Long Lost” with Steven Spielberg set to produce through his Amblin Partners label.
Colin Bannon, whose past film scripts have made the Black List seven times, penned the fifty-page short story and will adapt the script for the film which Simon Kinberg, Audrey Chon and Scott Glassgold will produce.
The story follows a recently married woman whose life is upended when her husband’s long lost wife shockingly returns after she was believed to be dead.
This sparks fears that she’s hatching a sinister plan to reclaim what was once hers. The film is said to be in the vein of “What Lies Beneath” and “Rosemary’s Baby”.
Bannon has multiple scripts set up at different studios including “Ultra” at Tri-Star-Pictures, and both “First Ascent” and “Holdout” at Netflix.
Spielberg most recently directed “The Fablemans” and executive produced both last year’s “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” and the upcoming animated feature “Transformers One”.
