Harry Gregson-Williams has been hired to compose the score for Ridley Scott’s highly-anticipated “Gladiator” sequel which opens in November.
The project marks the seventh collaboration between Scott and Gregson-Williams who worked together previously on “The Martian,” “Prometheus,” “Kingdom of Heaven,” “House of Gucci,” “The Last Duel” and “Exodus: Gods and Kings”.
Gregson-Williams has also handled the scores for the recent “Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget” and HBO’s “The Gilded Age,” along with films like “The Meg,” “The Equalizer” and the “Chronicles of Narnia” and “Shrek” franchises..
Hans Zimmer handled the score of the first “Gladiator,” snagging an Oscar nomination for his work, and Gregson-Williams spent many years as Zimmer’s protege.
David Scarpa pens the film which stars Paul Mescal as Lucius, the nephew of Commodus who is now a grown man. Denzel Washington, Connie Nielsen, Derek Jacobi, Joseph Quinn, Fred Hechinger and Pedro Pascal co-star
Scott, Michael Pruss, Douglas Wick and Lucy Fisher produce. Paramount Pictures is set to release the film on November 22nd.
