Zack Snyder’s sci-fi fantasy epic “Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire” has been a smash hit for its streamer Netflix.
The company has announced that the film was the most viewed title on the streaming giant following its debut. Over its three-day opening weekend (Dec. 22nd-24th) the title generated 23.9 million views.
It’s far above the second-place title on their current top ten list, which was the series “The Life with the Walter Boys”, which snagged 7.6 million views in seven days of viewing.
Following such a strong start for the film, one sold on Snyder’s name rather than any of its stars, the director has issued a statement saying:
“It has been a truly unparalleled experience introducing Rebel Moon to global audiences and I’m thrilled that the movie is #1 around the world. We have the most dedicated and loyal fans across the world that any filmmaker could ask for, and seeing them consistently be supportive has been an enormously rewarding experience.”
When it comes to films, Netflix counts the first 91 days and Snyder’s film will need to hit the 135 million mark in order to beat out “Extraction 2” (134.9 million) and make the Top 10. The top film of all time remains “Red Notice” with 230.9 million views over that three month period.
The saga continues with “Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver” which will debut April 19th 2024.
