The premiere episode of the “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” TV series brought in a reported 13.3 million viewers across its first six days on both the Disney+ and Hulu streaming services.
The number reportedly puts it in the five most-watched season premieres in all of 2023 on both streamers, but it’s not clear what others are on that list beyond “Ahsoka” which snagged 14 million in five days, and likely the second season of “Loki” which scored 10.9 million in three days.
The most recent seasons of “The Mandalorian” and “Only Murders in the Building” are likely high on the list too. That the series is on that playing field is impressive, especially as it’s hoped by Disney to be the start of a potential major franchise.
Only the first episode of “Percy Jackson” was reportedly counted towards that viewership total, not the second which was released on the same day but exclusively on Disney+ and not Hulu.
The series also reportedly achieved the most-watched premiere of all time for Disney Branded Television compared to six days of viewership to the likes of “Goosebumps,” “The Santa Clauses,” “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” and “Superkitties”. It even beat out “Bluey,” the No. 1 most-watched 2023 series among ages 2-11.
The first season of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” will continue through until January 30th.
