Netflix has premiered the official trailer for comedian Dave Chappelle’s new comedy special which arrives on the service on December 31st.
Narrated by Morgan Freeman, the trailer teases the special titled “Dave Chappelle: The Dreamer” which was filmed in the comic’s hometown of Washington D.C. at the historic Lincoln Theater.
Freeman says: “What do you dream about? Not the dreams you have in your sleep, the ones you hold in your heart. Don’t be intimidated by the audacity of your dream — be inspired by it.”
In an amusing bit right at the end, Freeman even tries to do the signature Netflix sound. Freeman also appears alongside Chappelle in what appears to be some sort of meta moment as they watch Chappelle’s standup projected on a screen.
Emmy Award-winning director Stan Lathan once again directs as he has done for the prior specials – three of which have won Emmy awards. The comedian is also a four-time Grammy winner for his work on the specials.
Chappelle is set to open a comedy & music club in Ohio in early 2024. “Dave Chappelle: The Dreamer” will release globally on the service on New Year’s Eve.
