The other week during The Game Awards came the news that a “Marvel’s Blade” video game was in the works, one being developed by “Dishonored 2” and “Deathloop” developers Arkane Lyon.
The title is to be a “mature, single-player, third-person game set in the heart of Paris” with a cinematic trailer teasing the Daywalker in a barbershop as a terrified employee shakily trims his facial hair.
The title will release on the Xbox Series X/S and PC and will arrive on Xbox Game Pass at launch, but don’t expect said launch anytime soon as at the time it was confirmed development just started last year.
Now, industry insider Jeff Grubb says Arkane is targeting a 2027 release for the title – four years from now at the earliest.
In fact, from the date it has been suggested this could be either a launch or early title for the next generation of Xbox. That may partly be why there was no logo for Xbox Series X or S on said trailer.
The lack of logos has led to questions over the exclusivity of the title and whether it will be exclusive to Xbox or whether it will be available on rival PlayStation format as well (albeit not free as on GamePass). Either way, we probably won’t know for a few years.
