Now this sounds interesting. Netflix has already started assembling one hell of a cast for Zero Day, the upcoming limited series from the streamer. It features Robert De Niro in his first lead TV role.

Alongside De Niro, Lizzy Caplan, Jesse Plemons, Joan Allen, and Connie Britton were already known to be cast. Now Angela Bassett, Dan Stevens, Matthew Modine, Bill Camp, and McKinley Belcher III have joined the cast. Clark Gregg, Gaby Hoffmann, and Mark Ivanir will also guest star.

De Niro plays George Mullen, a popular but complicated former president who comes out of retirement to head a commission investigating a devastating cyberattack.

Bassett will play the current president, who has an allegiance to Mullen and appoints him to the commission. Stevens will play a cable news host and Mullen’s loudest critic. Modine is the speaker of the House, Camp plays the director of the CIA and Belcher will play the commission’s lead investigator.

Gregg will play a corporate raider, Hoffmann a Silicon Valley billionaire, and Ivanir an intelligence operative.

Lesli Linka Glatter will direct all six episodes of Zero Day, and the project comes from Eric Newman (Narcos, The Watcher), Noah Oppenheim (Jackie), and Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times reporter Michael S. Schmidt. All three along with Glatter, De Niro, and Jonathan Glickman will executive produce.

OK Netflix. You have our attention.
