Magnolia Pictures has unveiled the U.S. trailer for the historical epic drama “The Promised Land” which marks a re-teaming of “A Royal Affair” director Nikolaj Arcel and star Mads Mikkelsen.
The true story tale stars Mikkelsen as an impoverished captain, Ludvig Kahlen, who sets out to conquer the harsh, uninhabitable Danish heath with a seemingly impossible goal – to build a colony in the name of the King.
Kahlen is a proud and uncompromising man, and the story follows him and the woman who becomes his ally in the fight against evil, death and perdition.
Also starring are Amanda Collin (“Raised by Wolves”), Magnus Krepper (“Queen of Hearts”), Simon Bennebjerg (“Borgen”), Gustav Lindh (“The Northman”), Kristine Kujath Thorp (“Ninjababy”), Morten Hee Andersen (“Margrete: Queen of the North”), Jacob Lohmann (“Riders Of Justice”) and Felix Kramer (“Dark”).
Arcel teams with acclaimed Danish screenwriter and director Anders Thomas Jensen (“Riders of Justice”) to pen the script based on Ida Jessen’s 2020 novel “The Captain and Ann Barbara”.
The film is slated to hit U.S. cinemas on February 2nd and follows in the wake of its successful Fall film festival run.
