A trailer of trailers for some smaller films opening early next year have arrived.
First, Vertical Entertainment has released the official trailer for its road trip thriller “He Went That Way ” which hits limited theaters on January 5th and VOD the following week.
Set in 1964, Jacob Elordi plays 19-year-old serial killer Bobby who is picked up by a celebrity animal handler, Jim (Zachary Quinto), on a desolate stretch of Route 66 with priceless cargo in tow: Jim’s chimpanzee and American TV darling Spanky.
As stress between Bobby and Jim rises and their fiery personalities combust, the road only becomes more treacherous the farther they go. Australian filmmaker Jeffrey Darling, who sadly has since died in a surfing accident, makes his directing debut on the film.
Next comes the first trailer for the comedy satire “The American Society of Magical Negroes” which Focus Features will release in cinemas on March 22nd.
Justice Smith plays Aren, a young man recruited into a secret society of magical Black people who dedicate their lives to a cause of utmost importance: making white people’s lives easier
David Alan Grier, An-Li Bogan, Drew Tarver, Michaela Watkins, Aisha Hinds, and Tim Baltz, with Rupert Friend and Nicole Byer co-star in the film written and directed by Kobi Libii.
Finally, there’s the trailer for Renny Harlin’s “The Bricklayer” starring Aaron Eckhart, Nina Dobrev, Clifton Collins Jr. and Tim Blake Nelson. It opens on January 5th.
The story begins when a rogue insurgent assassinates foreign journalists and makes it appear the CIA is responsible. The company must lure Steve Vail (Aaron Eckhart) – their most brilliant and rebellious operative – out of retirement to clear the agency’s name.
