The Dragon Warrior returns as DreamWorks Animation Studios releases the official trailer for the upcoming animated sequel film Kung Fu Panda 4. View trailer below.
Po is gearing up to become the spiritual leader of his Valley of Peace, but also needs someone to take his place as Dragon Warrior. As such, he will train a new kung fu practitioner for the spot and will encounter a villain called the Chameleon who conjures villains from the past.
I’ve always been a fan of the Kung Fu Panda movies, finding each installment to be excellent and exciting as well as cinematically beautiful and hilariously fun. This “first look” at the new movie looks interesting, with Po preparing himself for a new journey against a new enemy. Perhaps my one big nitpick of doing a fourth film in the series is that the Kung Fu Panda 3 clearly wrapped up the narrative and felt like a satisfying ending. Reopening up the series once again seems like a “cash grab” from DreamWorks. However, I am slightly curious to see if this movie will properly conclude Po’s journey or open up another trilogy style fashion. Another thing…. where is the Furious Five in the movie, with the trailer not showcasing them. Yes, it has been confirmed that the characters would return, but at what capacity in the narrative? Still, for better or worse, I am looking forward to seeing what Kung Fu Panda 4 has to offer.
