Former “House” actress turned filmmaker Olivia Wilde is attached to direct the Christmas comedy “Naughty” which has been setup at LuckyChap Entertainment.
The story follows Mallory whose only hope of securing custody of her son from her gaslighting ex-husband is to find Santa Claus and convince him to testify in her divorce hearing.
The film is dubbed “Bridesmaids in the North Pole” and Jimmy Warden (“Cocaine Bear”) penned the script. LuckyChap’s Margot Robbie, Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara are producing.
Wilde remains one of the more sought-after female directors in the industry. Her second directorial effort “Don’t Worry Darling” generated plenty of drama, gossip, memes and global headlines surrounding the on-set and offscreen happenings involving her and that film’s leading man Harry Styles, so much so it somewhat drowned out discussion about the film itself.
“Naughty” would mark her third directorial effort after first breaking through with “Booksmart”. Earlier this year she signed up to direct a TV adaptation of Jennifer Egan’s 2011 Pulitzer Prize-winning novel “A Visit from the Goon Squad” and its 2022 follow-up “The Candy House” for A24.
LuckyChap produced both “Barbie” and “Saltburn” and are having quite the successful run this year. They also recently produced the Keira Knightley-led “Boston Strangler” film.
