By Prequel trilogy stars Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen have returned to the “Star Wars” fold in recent years, now Natalie Portman says she’s open to returning to her role of Padme Amidala.
Portman played the Naboo Queen in the three “Star Wars” prequel films from 1999-2005, though her character famously ‘died of a broken heart’ in the end after giving birth to the Skywalker twins Luke and Leia.
Out promoting her work in Todd Haynes’ “May December,” the actress was a guest on Andy Cohen’s “Watch What Happens Live” series this week (via ComicBook.com and was asked about returning to “Star Wars”.
She says “no one has asked” her about returning to the franchise at this point, but added: “I’m open to it”. She also spoke about her experience on the films, saying:
“It was the first time I worked digitally. I don’t think anyone was shooting that way then. It was my first time working with a green screen. It was a whole new set of skills to pick up and a whole new world to enter.”
Portman has previously joked about how her “Thor: Love and Thunder” director Taika Waititi forgot she was already in a “Star Wars” film during a conversation once. Waititi is developing his own “Star Wars” film albeit slowly.
