The star of next Summer’s highly anticipated Marvel Studios title “Deadpool 3” has a message for fans – please don’t spoil the film.
Photos and information about the film have leaked online from the set, giving away some character cameos and teasing the film’s potential storyline and its connections to both the MCU and old Fox X-Men franchise.
In a new posting on Instagram however, Reynolds has expressed his discomfort with how many are sharing those secrets seemingly freely – spoiling what is meant to be enjoyed when they actually see the film.
He says the team has made a lot of effort to shoot the sequel on practical sets instead of digital ones, and by doing so it allows the images to leak:
“Surprises are part of the magic of theatrical movies. It’s important for us to shoot the new ‘Deadpool’ in real, natural environments, using effects as opposed to making the movie indoors and digitally.
Telephoto lenses continue to spoil surprises and create a difficult situation for everyone. Here’s hoping some of the websites and social channels hold back showing images until they’re ready.
The film is built for audience joy – and our highest hope is to preserve as much of that magic as possible for the finished film and the big screen. Part of the reason people post spoilers is because they’re excited.
The film sees Reynolds co-starring with Hugh Jackman returning to the role of Wolverine for the first time since 2017. The film will mark the sole big screen release from Marvel Studios in 2024.
Only three Marvel Studios series are planning to release in 2024 as well – “Echo,” “Agatha: Darkhold Diaries” and the animated “X-Men ’97”.
