Warner Bros. Discovery has closed a multi-year deal with A24 that will see the famed indie distributor bringing its slate of films exclusively to HBO, Max and Cinemax following their theatrical runs.
The recently released Nic Cage film “Dream Scenario,” Sofia Coppola’s “Priscilla,” Larry Charles’ “Dicks: The Musical,” Jonathan Glazer’s “The Zone of Interest,’ and the re-release of Jonathan Demme’s “Stop Making Sense” all fall under the deal.
Sean Durkin’s upcoming “The Iron Claw” and Alex Garland’s upcoming “Civil War” will also be a part of it. The output agreement follows after the expiration of A24’s deal earlier this year with Showtime, a deal struck back in 2019.
That’s not all though, as the two companies have extended their licensing deal for A24’s library of movies on HBO and Max – expanding to encompass more than 100 titles over the term of the agreement.
That will bring celebrated titles like “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” “Uncut Gems,” and “Past Lives” to the service – joining the likes of “Hereditary” and “Moonlight” which were already there under their prior agreement.
Royce Battleman, EVP of content acquisitions for Warner Bros. Discovery says in a statement:
“Continuing our relationship with A24 to bring award-winning movies alongside recent fan-favorites to subscribers adds incredible value to the HBO and Max value proposition. The diverse range of stories that come from the A24 pipeline make this partnership so impactful for our audience.”
The announcement marks a rare win for Warner Bros. Discovery which has had something of a rough year.
