Max has renewed its “Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake” spin-off series for a second season.
A follow-up to Cartoon Network’s “Adventure Time” which ran from 2010-2018, the series follows Fionna (Madeleine Martin) and her sidekick Cake (Roz Ryan) who find themselves in the crosshairs of a powerful new foe and must seek the help of former Ice King Simon Petrikov (Tom Kenny).
Other characters featured include Gary Prince (Andrew Rannells), Prismo (Sean Rohani), Scarab (Kayleigh McKee), Marshall Lee (Donald Glover), Marceline the Vampire Queen (Olivia Olson), Princess Bubblegum (Hynden Walch) and Finn the Human (Jeremy Shada).
A few months back showrunner Adam Muto, uncertain if the show would continue, says he wasn’t sure if it would be a direct second season or more an anthology kind of approach with a focus on another character. Today, he says in a statement:
“To know that the show will continue into a second season feels both wonderful and frankly surreal. Thanks to ‘Adventure Time’s’ creator Pendleton Ward, the team at Max, the talented cast & crew and the passionate audience who made this possible.”
The renewal comes as Apple TV+ cancelled its animated musical comedy series “Central Park” this week after three seasons. Series co-creator and star Josh Gad confirmed the news on Threads.
