FX has announced a January 31st premiere date for the first two episodes of “Feud: Capote vs. The Swans,” the second installment to Ryan Murphy’s anthology drama which arrives six years after the first back in 2017.
Set during the 1970s, the series revolves around the fallout between celebrated writer Truman Capote (Tom Hollander) and the ‘Swans’ – six rich, glamorous socialite women who originally considered him as a friend and defined a bygone era of high society New York.
Capote ingratiated himself into their lives, befriending them and becoming their confidante, only to ultimately betray them by writing “Answered Prayers” – a “Valley of the Dolls”-style roman-a-clef novel about their lives which exposed their most intimate secrets.
When an excerpt was published in Esquire, it effectively destroyed his relationship with his swans and banished him from the high society – sending him on spiral of self-destruction from which he would ultimately never recover.
The cast of six ladies includes Naomi Watts as Barbara ‘Babe’ Paley, Diane Lane as Slim Keith, Chloë Sevigny as C.Z. Guest, Calista Flockhart as Lee Radziwill, Demi Moore as Ann ‘Bang-Bang’ Woodward, and Molly Ringwald as Joanne Carson.
Also onboard are Treat Williams as Bill Paley, Joe Mantello as Jack Dunphy and Russell Tovey as John O’Shea. All episodes, including the Director’s Cut, will be available to stream next day on Hulu.
Watts, Ryan Murphy, Alexis Martin Woodall, Baitz, Gus Van Sant, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Eric Kovtun and Scott Robertson all executive produce. Van Sant, Max Winkler, and Jennifer Lynch direct episodes.
