British paper The Mirror has posted photos from the set of the once again filming third “Deadpool” feature – photos which tease the return of two X-Men characters.

SPOILERS AHEAD FOR “DEADPOOL 3”

The photos see both Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine back in action filming scenes very similar to set photos of what they shot months ago – namely a fight scenes on some white desolate and dusty landscape.

Whereas those earlier set photos had the pair seemingly going against each other, the new shots see Wolverine taking on what appears to be the character of Sabretooth with a design more akin to Tyler Mane’s look in the first “X-Men” film than Liev Schrieber’s in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”.

Another photo shows Ryan’s character carrying around Sabretooth’s decapitated head – presumably after Wolverine cuts it off. The paper reports another another mutant from the original X-Men film was also on-set – someone in make-up as Toad.

The Shawn Levy-directed project was one of the most high-profile movies that had to suspend filming due to the strike and was said to be halfway through its shoot when it hit pause. Filming began again almost two weeks ago.

“Deadpool 3” will mark the only Marvel Studios film opening in 2024, though Sony will have three Marvel features (“Madame Web,” “Kraven the Hunter” and “Venom 3”) all coming out. It is currently slated to release on July 26th 2024.
